The New York Proton Center.
Three Great Healthcare Systems.
One Exceptional Way to Treat Cancer.

You don’t have to travel hundreds of miles for world-class oncology care.

The New York Proton Center (NYPC) is coming right here to the metropolitan area—and will be one of just a handful of proton therapy centers in the country.

NYPC is a collaboration of some of New York City’s leading hospitals, including Mount Sinai Hospital, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Montefiore Medical Center. The consortium is managed by ProHEALTH Proton Management, LLC

Proton therapy is proven to be a more effective form of radiation therapy in pediatric cancers and in treating tumors of the brain, spinal cord, breast, gastrointestinal system, lung and prostate.

How Proton Therapy Works

Standard Radiation

Standard radiation treatments work by altering the molecular structure of cancer cells so they can no longer reproduce.

The potential downside is damaging healthy tissues and organs surrounding the tumor in the process.

Proton Therapy

Proton therapy, on the other hand, gives doctors unprecedented control when targeting tumors. This allows them to use higher doses of radiation without fear of damaging the surrounding area.

And because proton involves three dimension mapping, energy beams can be deposited to the right depth, so cells in front of and behind the tumor are not affected.

This unique difference makes proton therapy an ideal way to treat pediatric cancers and tumors of the brain, spinal cord, breast, gastrointestinal system, lung and prostate.

Is Proton Therapy right for you?

While proton therapy is a highly effective way to manage some forms of cancer, it’s not ideal—or even possible—for all patients.

To see if proton therapy is right for you, schedule a consultation with one of our doctors. If proton therapy isn’t the answer, we’ll guide you to the best course of treatment for your cancer.
